Taxes and government overreach into our lives have become onerous and overbearing. I will fight for our property and water rights and stand against over taxation and for accountable government. Your right to a better quality of life, without big government, will be a priority in Olympia.

PLATFORM

"I’m running for State Representative because as a land and business owner in the 39th District,
I want to preserve our property rights and limit government regulation and taxation in our lives."
ISSUES
Land and Water Rights

The 39th LD consists of a mix of urban and rural properties. The rural Land and Water Rights in our area have a major impact on all of us. It is one of the biggest issues impacting the 39th LD. Protecting these rights will be at the forefront of my endeavors in Olympia.

Having been involved with Citizens Alliance for Property Rights (CAPR) for several years, my knowledge and experience in fighting for our land rights will be beneficial in Olympia. Through experiences developing my own property in the 39th LD, it is apparent there can be great difficulties when working with local government regarding land use. I have personally experienced loss of land to the county through the land grab called “Common Use Land”. When recently installing 2 new wells on my own land, there was a rush to do so ahead of the Hurst Decision, for fear of losing all value in my property. Many of you were not able to do so, and the fear of losing your Property and Water Rights on your own land caused undue stress and worry to be placed upon you by our government. In Skagit County we still need to fight for your water rights and this will be my priority when in office.

The 5th Amendment states: “…nor be deprived of Life, Liberty, or Property without due process of the law, nor shall Private property be taken for public use without just compensation.”

I will be a strong advocate for your Land and Water Rights in Olympia.

Excessive Taxation

Taxes have increased dramatically in the past year: property taxes skyrocketed, sales tax has risen, and car tabs have exploded in some areas of our state. Now, even with a $2.3 billion unexpected increase in revenues in Olympia, we see the push for even more taxes. As your Representative, I will stand against a Capital Gains Tax, an Income Tax, a Carbon Tax and the Sugar Tax which is pushing to expand beyond Seattle. We know tolls and mileage taxes being pushed. These taxes will unjustly impact those of us outside the urban centers. Many of us are, or know family and friends who are, losing the quality of life we once enjoyed due to these excessive and burdensome taxes. Some are even being pushed out of their homes because of these added costs in their lives.

Businesses in our state are fraught with regulation and more taxes, prohibiting their growth and ability to increase employment. Seattle tax policies are now being pushed throughout our state. They are not beneficial to residents in our community and need to be halted.

I will fight for Less Taxation, Smaller Government, and Less Business Regulation.

Transportation

Over the years, residents the 39th LD have witnessed dramatic increases in traffic congestion and gridlock. The growth in our state and increased pursuit for affordable housing have impacted our quality of life. Olympia has tried to mitigate congestion by implementing more carpool lanes and adding tolls to our highways. The I-405 debacle has only added to the problem and now adds more costs to the commuters.

The answer is not tolling the roads we already pay for with other taxes. The mileage tax that is being pushed is unfair to those of us who live in rural areas and commute to job centers or travel to job sites. The tracking devices are invasive to our personal lives.

Tolling Highway 2 or other roads puts more burden on other routes, creating safety issues and causing further congestion.

I will work in Olympia for better solutions for our roads and will stand against these excessive taxes.
